Microsoft Word can protect the documents you create by encrypting their contents and restricting access by using a password. This way, you can implement several levels of protection, for example, blocking access to the VBA project, restricting content changes and locking all types of access. Although the usefulness of this feature is unquestionable, there may be times when you simply forget the password you used. Word Password Recovery Master is intended to retrieve these passwords. The program works by sending the document’s cryptographic data to the developer’s server to be cracked, and unlike other similar tools, you do not need to share the whole document.
The tool is very easy to use. You just need to browse for the desired document and the program shows the set of different passwords you need to open, modify and unprotect the file as well as access its embedded VBA project. The program works very fast, despite it needs to upload and download data. In this regard, it is great that you can configure a proxy server if it is necessary. Finally, the tool lets you set a supervisor password to prevent other users from using it to recover your passwords.
It is a pity that Word Password Recovery Master does not support cracking documents created with Microsoft Office versions higher than 2003. What is worse, it cannot work with files protected with non-standard CSP (Crypto Service Provider). This makes the product practically useless because it restricts its usage to old documents only.
